The problem
A diamond is bought on what it looks like, and a still photo hides most of that. The stock also lives with suppliers: thousands of stones across supplier websites and Excel sheets, with prices that move, so a catalogue kept by hand is out of date the day it goes live.
What I built
Next.js storefront on Payload CMS 3 with SQLite: diamond and jewellery catalogues with category trees, shape, colour and origin filters, header search with suggestions, and an embedded 360° viewer that accepts Gem360, V360 and other supplier viewer links. Supplier importers pull stock from a WooCommerce Store API and a Shopify products feed, download photos into the media library and retry around rate limits, and an Excel/CSV import maps a stock file’s columns in the browser and sends rows in batches. A bulk price-change tool applies a percentage over the original price so it can always be reset, and survives supplier re-imports. Enquiry forms send HTML emails over SMTP, one-time review links let customers leave reviews for the home page, and the admin carries a Google Analytics 4 report, tracking and site-verification settings, a generated sitemap and product structured data.
